she is three

Luna turned 3 a few days ago. I get VERY excited about birthdays and Christmas. I love to keep it fairly simple, but fun and special.

Right now Luna loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Halloween (whyyyyyyyy), playing with her “friends and buddies”, going to the grocery store, going to nursery at church, and wearing costumes. She is very pink; her clothes and herself. Everything is pink in our house. She also loves to say “No”, “I don’t like it”, “I don’t want to”, and various other forms of communicating that she is contrary as heck. She blithely refuses to be potty trained. She is eating real foods so well- which is a huge blessing to me after her puking up solid foods for so long. We are slowly weaning off purées. She says the funniest things all day. Aaron and I will be sitting in silence after she goes to bed, and then one of us busts out laughing,”Remember when Luna said fill-in-the-blank today??”. The other day the cashier at the grocery store was wearing massive amounts of blue and purple eyeshadow, hot pink lipstick, and had pink streaks dyed in her platinum blonde hair. Luna looked up at her admiringly,”WOW MAMA SHE IS A MONSTER FOR HALLOWEENS”. I was so thankful the cashier didn’t notice.

Last year we took Luna to the grocery store and got her a balloon. She was so happy with just that. I hope I never forget the sight of her happy self running up and down the store aisles. This year we took her to Farragut park for a few hours, and ordered some costumes from Amazon. I think it might’ve been the best day of her life so far. I took MANY pictures. Enjoy! She is the cutest kid ever!

Casually waiting on her sandwich and cupcake at the deli before heading to the park.

She walked straight to the glass case of cupcakes and without hesitation pointed at the one named Vanilla Princess. “That one, Dada. It is best.”

Asleep before we even got to the park. It’s so hard to be three years old.

She would follow her Dada anywhere. I love these photos.

Yelling “Ahoy Happy Birthday!!!” to all the boats off in the distance. Happily, one tiny paddle boat came by. The couple paddling yelled Ahoy Happy Birthday back to her which MADE HER DAY.

Daphne wishing she was at home. Maybe in her bed. Or maybe just crying for no reason. She hates the sun because she is my daughter and cannot help her genetics. She is also a Mama’s girl and very cuddly. We have realized lately that Daphne thinks Luna is the coolest person ever. She will just stare at Luna with the biggest, most adoring smiles.

Things that made Luna very happy on this day:

Singing Happy Birthday over and over.

Sticks.

Rocks.

Getting wet in the water.

Jumping off rocks.

Sand.

Dirt.

Costumes.

Cupcake.

The next day was church (and her actual birthday) so she dressed up.

Daphne smiling at Luna after our birthday walk to the river. Look at her adoring face!

She is the best kid. I have loved every age with her. If I had to use only one word to describe her it would be delightful.
